A forgiving action-RPG framework makes this fantasy adventure easy to pick up without stripping away the pleasure of building a capable hero. A primal force has poisoned the land and created immortal tyrants known as Ebonarchs, while a rarer light empowers the warriors meant to oppose them. Players take the role of a newly awakened Luminary, travelling through a dense open zone to break an Ebonarch’s source of power and reclaim corrupted territory. The mood sits between bright heroic fantasy and a world visibly scarred by darkness, making it a more approachable alternative to punishing soulslike adventures.

Combat happens in real time and rewards basic timing rather than encyclopedic build knowledge. Characters can quickly switch between sword-and-shield, bow, and eventually other fighting styles, combining melee, ranged attacks, magic, blocks, and dodges as encounters demand. Traversal is a major part of the loop: mountains can be climbed, water crossed, and distant areas reached by gliding, with camps, towers, treasures, and minibosses giving the landscape purpose. Progression carries between solo sessions and online co-op, while rescued townspeople and collected materials improve services such as the blacksmith, armorer, arcanist, and chef; mining, fishing, and animal catching provide quieter pursuits alongside combat.

Its strongest feature is the low-friction three-player drop-in/drop-out co-op, which lets each player use their own persistent character and roam independently rather than remain glued to the host. A six-race character creator adds personality, and the promise of higher difficulty tiers gives players a reason to revisit completed content for tougher enemies, better rewards, and more experience. As an Early Access project from a very small team, the currently available map represents only part of a larger intended world, with additional bosses, areas, weapons, and local co-op planned rather than guaranteed now. Luminary suits families, co-op groups, and newcomers who want open-world exploration and Diablo-like progression without the pressure of a hardcore ARPG; veterans may enjoy its foundations most if they are comfortable waiting for more depth and content.

Installation

Setup Guide & Troubleshooting

After extracting Luminary (v0.11.02.0029), navigate to the _Redist or _CommonRedist folder inside the game directory and install DirectX, Vcredist, and any other dependencies included.

The full archive is 9.45 GB — make sure your download completed fully before extracting. Use 7-Zip to extract the files. If you still see a "file corrupted" error, re-download and try again.

Right-click the game executable and select "Run as Administrator" to avoid save file issues and permission errors. This is especially important on the first launch.

Luminary (v0.11.02.0029) requires a Nvidia GTX 1080 (6gb VRAM) or equivalent. Update your NVIDIA or AMD drivers to the latest version for the best performance.

This game requires Version 12. Try running in compatibility mode, install the latest DirectX runtime, or install the All-in-One VC Redist Package.

Antivirus false positives are common with pre-installed games. Temporarily pause your antivirus during extraction to prevent it from quarantining game files. You can re-enable it after the extraction completes.
